[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]Yesterday we noted the fact that Jesus has great power and authority, having inherited it from His Father. We looked at the implications of such, given His humanity. And that is Paul’s final point in his prayers for the Christians in Ephesus found in Ephesians 1:15-19. Jesus’ power is directed toward you.
What I did not mention in the previous post was the little phrase “in the saints” found in verse 18. Here’s what the text says,
…that you may know…what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints…
While we are blessed with every spiritual blessing IN HIM, Jesus received His inheritance “in the saints”.
Notice Deuteronomy 32:9
For the LORD’s portion is His people…
God’s “portion” (referring to an inheritance) is His people. In the Old Testament that directly related to the people of Israel. In the New Testament, His people are Chrisitans. We are spiritual Israel.
The glory of the Lord is His people. The “riches of the glory of His inheritance” is His people. It’s not because we are so great. It’s because God had a plan, and we are the result of it. The existence of Christians is a testament to the incredible wisdom and power of God, His finest achievement in the physical plane.
For His inheritance, Jesus gained power and authority above all but His Father. He was seated at the right hand of God. But His true glory is not in where He sits. It’s in what He has done.True glory is not measured by the throne on which you sit, but by the work that you accomplish. Click To Tweet
Is it any wonder then that God’s power is directed toward us?
God has a vested interest in your success
Paul considered this power toward us when he wrote, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the POWER of God to salvation…” (Romans 1:16). God’s power, the full extent of it, is directed to us through the message of the Gospel. Everything God did in all of creation and His marvelous plan, these all worked toward the revelation of the message of the cross. That is, His power is orchestrated into creating something never before seen: a Christian.
It took Him thousands of years and unfathomable wisdom to accomplish it. Do you really think anyone will be able to thwart His efforts?
Oh sure, you can walk away anytime. He’ll let you, but He doesn’t want you to go. He wants you to spend eternity with Him.
When you think about it, how could we possibly lose except to be fooled into thinking the world has something better to offer? (Satan has shown his proficiency in doing that, unfortunately.) We have an unmistakable and unbeatable HOPE for incredible blessings, an inheritance that awaits us, and the power of God directed toward us!
Question: Are you confident that you will be saved when Jesus returns?[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text css_animation=””]
